Equine Assisted Services
for Adults and Teens
The Simpatico Center provides unmounted, individual and group experiences with equines, facilitated by Dr. Pugh. In relationship with horses and with the support and guidance of an experienced clinician, you will have the opportunity to participate in customized sessions focusing on practical skills that are important to YOU. Sessions may focus on increasing self-awareness, managing stress, establishing healthy boundaries, or improving your confidence or communication skills.

The Simpatico Center offers a variety of nature-based experiences at a farm in Woodstock, Virginia. Therapy in natural settings promotes opportunities for play and sensory-motor learning experiences, as well as encouraging curiosity and creativity.

Spending time with animals provides endless opportunities to improve coordination, confidence, empathy, and the ability to understand how our behavior impacts others. In relationships with animals, we learn to connect without the challenges of language, setting the stage for profound growth and learning experiences.

Community and Home-Based Occupational Therapy Services
The Simpatico Center specializes in supporting children develop the social, play, and self-regulation skills they need to be happy and successful within their homes, educational settings, and communities.

By providing services within the community, we are able to support you and your family during the times expert intervention strategies and parent coaching are most needed. Whether it’s problem-solving home routines, participating on a local sports team, being successful in school, or navigating a shopping trip, our therapists are happy to meet you – and your family – exactly where you need us to be.
